Lombardi's Pizza is located in the Nolita neighborhood in New York City. I have had the pizza here with friends before and it is pretty good stuff. Expect a line, but the wait should be worth the extra effort.

My son lives in NYC. We'll have to try that out on our next visit.
Wow - that looks like a great place for pizza, I would love to have some of that pizza maybe sometimes next few weeks. thank you for sharing.
I love PIZZA . . . I'm surprised it took so long -- until 1905 -- to open a pizza joint. Now I'm in the mood for a pizza, with yummy stringy melted cheese and good sauce ;-)
Very cool to have a business that has lasted so long and in one location. Glad that it is recognized as a landmark. I wonder if it has been in any movies or tv shows in the past?

The FIRST one!? That is so cool! and I see you do your "speechless" posts the way I do... with speach! LOL Although I have way more speech in mine! he he
Glad you shared this. I love these types of posts... which would be why I started the Things to Do/Places to Visit group. We need hyper-locale Localism posts for the general public! =D
I am eating ziti as I type this. They say Chicago has the best pizza, and I really don't know, but I have had some outstanding pizza (etc...etc..etc) in NYC.
Norman,
I would love to visit the first pizza parlor in the US. Now I know where it is...thanks.
Rich
A great place to stop by if you love pizza!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Morgan, In all my travels I'm not sure if I've ever eaten there....but I bookmarked it to go visit! I also had to see what Nolita is (having just learned what Noho was :). Lots of sub-divisions going on in New York City!
NYC has the BEST restaurants! I would love to go back for a visit again soon :)
Debi
Debi-NYC does have some great restaurants but there is nothing like your favorite local places from where you are from.
Carole-Lombardi's is good place to go with friends because you have to order a whole pie, no slices.
Phil-I've never had authentic Chicago style pizza before, NYC style turns some people off because its a thinner style of pizza and they don't like to fold it over while eating.
Lisa-I just joined your group about hyper localism posts, these are some of the best posts to share.
Robert-I can't remember any specific tv shows or movies that used Lombardi's but I'm sure if you watched Law and Order long enough they probably have used it.
Tammie-So many pizza places in New York, sometimes the best places are just around the corner without all of the name recognition.
Morgan,
As long as you have the plaque to prove it, then we'll accept that it's the first. Actually know about it anyway. Good post. :)
Steve
It's great to see a business like that endure for more than 100 years. I'll bet those walls could tell a lot of amazing stories.
Morgan, how come you didn't take me to Lombardi's pizza when I visited you in New York? maybe when I'm there in June?
Steve-You wonder how they prove these types of things, maybe its like the stars on the hollywood walk of fame-whoever purchases the space gets one.
John-You wonder how many pounds of pizza dough or sauce has been used throughout the years.
Sonny-I thought Peter Luger's was enough for you, I don't know if Lombardi's is fancy enough for you, no cloth napkins or fine wine list to choose from.
There is so much history in New York. Thanks for sharing this piece, Morgan.
It's too bad that as we get older we have to eat less pizza or suffer the health consequences.
