The New York Taxi and Limousine Commission has decided to add Ford Transit Connect into the approval car model for New York city taxi cabs. Currently most cabs on the streets of New York are Ford Crown Victorias, but Ford discontinued Crown Victorias earlier this year. Therefore the Ford Transit Connect is a temperary replacement before Nissan's van models becomes available.
As a New Yorker, we move around the city by public mass transit, subway, buses, and... CABS! We love our yellow taxi cabs to rush to our appointments or meeting places and/or that raining day that we forget our umbrellas.
The Transit Connect gets 23 miles per gallon compared with 14miles per gallon for the Crown Victoria, and costs around $25,000! We welcome the New Ford Transit Connect to the list of cab models we have, so far only 100 of this model on the streets of Manhattan tonight, hopefully there will be more of them soon and I look forward in riding in one of these energy efficient taxi cab.
